Gehlen Catholic School broke ground on a major expansion project yesterday morning, marking the culmination of the school’s Legacy Campaign that raised over $10 million for the project. Dr. Amanda Anderson, president of Gehlen Catholic, told KLEM that the project would enhance the learning experience for students now and in the future.
Seven new classrooms, a new multi-purpose room, and a new art room for the Elementary school are also part of the renovations. Dr. Anderson says the project will address important needs for the school.
Gehlen’s Legacy Campaign was launched just over a year ago, and officially reached it’s goal of $10 million with a $800,000 donation from the Diocese of Sioux City yesterday. Dr. Anderson says construction work will get underway today, with students set to begin learning in the new spaces in August of 2027.
