Le Mars Community breaks ground on new Elementary School

Le Mars Community School Board members, Superintendent Dr. Steve Webner, and Le Mars mayor Rob Bixenman participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the district’s new Elementary School.

After years of planning and organizing, shovels finally hit the dirt yesterday on Le Mars Community’s new Elementary School. Superintendent Dr. Steve Webner told KLEM that the groundbreaking ceremony was “a dream come true.”

The new school came to fruition thanks to the passage of a bond issue in November of 2024, and Dr. Webner says feedback from the community has played a role in the design and development of the school.

All Elementary students will be housed in the new building, which includes three gymnasiums, a media center, and other features that Dr. Weber says will provide a “world-class education.” Construction on the building has been underway since last month, with students planned to walk through the doors in time for the 2028/29 school year.
