The Hinton girls golf team opened their 2026 season with a win on their home course by the score of 193-218 over Remsen St. Mary’s.
Hinton’s first meet came nearly two weeks after some other teams were able to get their seasons started. Hinton head coach Joel Small says that allowed his team plenty of practice opportunities to improve prior to the start of the season.
Their score of 193 already puts the Blackhawks in mid-season form compared to their average scores last year. Coach Small says he was proud of how the team competed, but he says they still could have done better.
Ashlyn Kramer picked up right where she left off from her first team All-State season last year. She shot a 41 to lead the meet and was the top golfer by six strokes. Coach Small says Kramer is continuing to blossom as a leader on this team.
Hinton will be back in action a lot more at home over the next few meets with this win starting a stretch of seven-straight home meets. Coach Small says this will give his team ample opportunities to improve their game on a familiar course, and they should take advantage of that.
Hinton will host West Sioux on Monday to continue the season. Remsen St. Mary’s falls to 0-3 on the year and will be at South O’Brien on Monday.
