Gehlen Catholic’s Dylan Lubben took home medalist honors as the individual champion of the War Eagle Conference Tournament on Monday with a score of 77.
Lubben opened up his round going out at +5 but came in on a better run finishing the round +1. Lubben says he made some adjustments midway through the round that helped him finish well.
Some of those adjustments were due to the weather playing havoc with high winds impacting the round. Lubben says it was just a part of the round that he had to deal with.
Willow Creek is typically famous for its fast greens which makes putting a challenge. Combine that with a new putter, and Lubben says the short game was especially challenging for him.
Lubben and the Jays continue their season in Hull for the sectional meet on Wednesday. Lubben says this is a nice confidence boost that will help out heading into some important meets.
Should the Jays advance from the sectional meet, they will compete in Council Bluffs for the district meet on Monday, May 18.
