Cities and towns across northwest Iowa are beginning to clean-up this morning following severe weather events that took place Sunday evening, including in Kingsley, where numerous fallen power lines and trees caused damage and forced the city to close roads into town.
According to the Kingsley Fire Department, power is back on in most of the town this morning, however many power lines are still down and are assumed to be live. A statement from Plymouth County Emergency Management states that emergency personnel has cleared paths throughout town overnight, but is asking non-residents and non-volunteers to not travel to or through Kingsley. No injuries or deaths have been reported as of Monday morning.
If you are a resident of Kingsley and the surrounding area and you need assistance with damages, call the Plymouth County Communications Center’s non-emergency line at 712-546-8191, or stop in at the Kingsley Fire Station. Volunteers need to register at the Fire Station, even if you’re coming to help a family member. Tree debris can be dumped off at the city tree dump, and additional dump sites may be established as needed.
KLEM will update this story when more information becomes available.
