The Le Mars Community baseball team suffered a pair of conference losses on Thursday night at Sergeant Bluff-Luton dropping the first game 6-5 and the second game 15-5 in six innings.
Leading up to the doubleheader, Le Mars had scored just one run in its last three games. The Bulldogs were certainly on a mission to right that wrong and scored first in game one in the top of the third inning. Head coach Kendall Candor says he is seeing the improvement and guys are wanting to step up to the plate and make an impact.
Le Mars relinquished the lead in the first game falling behind 6-2 before scoring three runs in the sixth inning to cut it to one run. Despite a lopsided score in game two, the Bulldogs were able to fight off the run rule for a while with five runs in the late innings. Coach Candor says he has appreciated the resilience of his team this season.
Le Mars falls to 3-10 overall and 3-9 in the MRAC. These losses extend their losing streak to six games, and they will have another chance this week to snap it. The Bulldogs will head to Orange City to take on Class 2A No. 8 Unity Christian in a single non-conference game. Coach Candor says it is games like these that test the toughness of his team.
