The Le Mars boys golf team picked up their first meet win in two weeks scoring a 307 on Monday afternoon at Willow Creek Golf Course beating Council Bluffs Abe Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson.
After a couple of close second-place finishes, the Bulldogs have been determined over the last few weeks to get better. Head coach Nick Knapp says he has seen the difference in the last couple of weeks of practice.
This was Le Mars’ first meet in almost a feel week competing last on August 25. Coach Knapp says that benefitted the Bulldogs well as they took advantage of the time off.
Wyatt Leners earned the top spot in a competitive Bulldog lineup with a 72 on his own. Le Mars had all four scoring golfers card under 80 for the meet as well. Coach Knapp says Leners had a couple of instances where he had to bounce back to get a good score.
The Bulldogs are off for the rest of the week and do not return to competition until after the Labor Day weekend. Coach Knapp says after hitting it hard in practice the last couple of weeks, this week will be a bit lighter to recover for an important stretch.
Le Mars competes next in Council Bluffs in a triangular against Lewis Central and Sioux City West on Tuesday, September 8.
