Candidates Square Off During Legislative Forum

(Le Mars) — Powell Broadcasting Company hosted a legislative forum Wednesday morning for the candidates seeking to fill the vacancy of State Senator Bill Anderson for State Senate District 3.  Republican Jim Carlin of Sioux City, and Democrat Todd Wendt of Le Mars answered questions by Woody Gottburg of KSCJ radio and Dennis Morrice of KLEM radio.  The forum was broadcast live on both radio stations.  Woody Gottburg started off the forum by asking each candidate to introduce themselves and offer an opening statement.

KLEM news director Dennis Morrice asked the first question regarding tax incentives for economic development and job creation, followed by KSCJ news director Woody Gottburg inquiring about the state’s budget shortfall.

Next up for the candidates were questions that focused on education, mental health services, and agriculture.

The legislative forum concluded with each candidate offering their final comments.
