(Spencer) — Labor Day weekend and the days leading up to the holiday have proven to be one of the deadliest for traffic accident fatalities, with many of the accidents alcohol related.
The Iowa Highway Patrol, along with several local law enforcement agencies are gearing up for the “Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over” campaign. Trooper Vince Kurtz covers the Spencer district. He says the national campaign started yesterday and runs through Labor Day. It is an effort to curtail traffic accidents and fatalities.

He says even after one drink, a driver may be slow on the reflexes, or making the wrong assumption that he may be able to have enough room and time to pass a vehicle when another on-coming vehicle is approaching.
