(Le Mars) — On Saturday, people will have the opportunity to attend an open house featuring a G scale, or Garden Train set. The open house is being hosted by Brian Nitzschke of Le Mars. Nitzschke says the G-scale trains equals 1/29th the size of the full size railroad trains.
Nitzschke has had an interest in model railroads since he was a young boy, and he
recently constructed a G-scale model railroad in his backyard. Nitzschke says it
took nearly a year to build the backyard model train set. He talks about the set-
up.
The train enthusiast says he has three different locomotives, along with some G-
scale rail cars that are on loan.
As mentioned, Nitzschke will show off his outdoor model train set on Saturday
afternoon.
The open house to view the backyard model train set will run from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00
p.m. Nitzschke’s home is located at 1st Street Southwest, next to the Eagle’s Club
and across the street from the fire station.
