Le Mars Police Looking For Stolen Vehicle Suspect

(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect that was involved with a reported stolen vehicle. The incident happened early Sunday morning at about 6:30 a.m. A Plymouth County Sheriff’s Deputy identified a stolen maroon colored Dodge Charger parked outside the Le Mars Walmart store. A male suspect entered the car a short time later, and officers attempted to stop the car in the parking lot. The suspect intentionally hit a Le Mars Police squad patrol car damaging the passenger side front tire, disabling the police car.
A short high-speed pursuit ensued with the suspect leaving Le Mars on Business Highway 75 South, and then on the by-pass highway heading northbound, and returning into Le Mars on Highway 3. The suspect was able to get away from officers, and he parked the car in the 100 block of 5th Street northwest, and then fled on foot. Le Mars officers developed information that the suspect had stopped at the Subway Store in Le Mars on
Business Highway 75, and was picked up in a maroon Saturn SUV at approximately 11:00 a.m. The Dodge Charger was stolen from Sioux City a few days prior, and it had stolen items in it, which were taken from the Le Mars Walmart.
