Dawn MacGregor Le Mars Community Schools’ 2022 Teacher of the Year and Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell award

Mrs. Dawn MacGregor has been selected as the Le Mars Community Schools’ 2022 Teacher of the Year and awarded the annual Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell award. Mrs. MacGregor began her teaching career with the Le Mars Community School District and for twenty-four (24) years has been teaching 1st grade at Kluckhohn Elementary. She has also served on the Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment (CIA) team leading professional development for the district’s first grade teachers since the inception of the Teacher Leadership Program eight years ago.

Mrs. MacGregor is a Whole Braining Teaching staff member and applies Whole Brain
Teaching strategies in her classroom. She is a Platinum Certified Trainer for Whole Brain
Teachers of America and Vice Principal of the AlphaHawk Virtual Academy, a digital school of educators from around the world.  Mrs. MacGregor resides in Le Mars with her husband John, Le Mars Fire-Rescue battalion chief. They are the parents of two boys; Sebastian is a freshman at LCHS and Hudson is a 3rd grader at Kuckhohn Elementary.

Mrs. MacGregor was nominated for this award by her colleagues, friends, and parents of her former students.The Decades of Excellence Crystal Bell award is co-sponsored by the LCSD Foundation and the LCS Alumni Association. The award is presented annually to honor outstanding teachers who have dedicated their careers to the education of our children.

Mrs. MacGregor will be honored at the Foundation Banquet on Wednesday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Le Mars Convention Center. The public is invited to attend this event. Tickets are available in the Superintendent’s Office by calling 546-4155.
