On Golden Pond Opening Soon at LCT

(Le Mars) The Le Mars Community Theatre is kicking off their 2023 with a well known classic, On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson, opening Thursday March 9th.  Set in a Maine lake house, audiences will have the chance to feel the intense, sometimes comical, and heartfelt family dynamics of the Thayers.
The story centers around the soon-to-be 80 year old Norman Thayer, played by Jeff Neary. He’s an educated, dry humored man, who is a bit grump and assumes death is knocking at his door.

Neary says preparing to be Norman has been a challenge.

The physicality of the role is also challenging, as he has to reign in his youth.

Neary’s character rarely leaves the stage, and has a lot of dialogue.  He said that he’s grateful for the supporting actors surrounding him during this show.

Holding up her end of the deal is Jeff’s co-star Jill Young as his wife, Ethel Thayer.  Other supporting cast members include Angela Riedeman as their daughter Chelsea; Joe Ouradnick as Charlie the Mailman; Bob Hill as Bill Ray and newcomer (to the Postal Playhouse Stage) Liam Parks as Billy Ray Jr.

In addition to a really thoughtful script, Le Mars Community Theatres staging of On Golden Pond includes a cozy fireplace and a view of the pond, with all the nostalgic decor of grandpa and grandmas house in the 1980’s.

This show is under the direction of Danna Schuster with Pete Laskie offering his talents as producer.
