Avenue of Flags Memorial Day Program

Memorial Day in Le Mars began with celebration, as a parade worked its way up to the Plymouth County Courthouse.

At the Courthouse, the Memorial Day Program began at 10 a.m.

The colors were presented by Wasmer Post #241

There was greetings from Mayor Rob Bixenman, then the comanders speech by Commander Nicholas Hanson

There were several numbers from the Le Mars Municipal Band

 

A wreath ceremony was followed by the lighting of the Flame of Remembrance

 

Certificates recognizing 50 years of continuous American Legion membership were presented to Wasmer Post members Robert Bohnenkamp and Dr. Arthur Krull.  The program was capped with the reading of names and posting of new flags, A rifle volley and Taps.  1459 names were read today.
