“The Foreigner” Opens Friday at Le Mars Community Theatre

(Le Mars) – The first show of the 2024 season opens this weekend at the Le Mars Community Theatre.  “The Foreigner,” by Larry Shue, is a classic comedy featuring a cast of seven players who are planning, scheming and secret keeping in the presence of someone who doesn’t know what they’re saying.  At least, that’s what they think.
Hinton resident Ryan Odor is playing Charlie, a shy man also known as- “The Foreigner.”  He is said to not know English when brought by a friend to a rural Georgia hunting lodge, but this is just an excuse to keep him from having to converse with the other guests.
Odor says playing Charlie has been a blast because the character has many layers.

Odor has been doing theatre for a number of years, with his theatre career beginning as a high school student in Spencer.  He did work with the community theatre there after college, as well as in Emmetsburg, before moving to Hinton and getting involved at LCT.  He was most recently on the Postal Playhouse stage as Lefou in Beauty and the Beast. The professional role that Odor plays is the Assistant Brewer at Wise Eye downtown Le Mars.  He encourages those who may have never seen a show at the Postal Playhouse before to give this one a try.

Other cast members of “The Foreigner” include: Renee Buss, Ashley Lindsay, Jamie Hauser, Liam Parks, Travis Balt and Braden Bollin. The show is under the direction of LCT Board Member Bob Hill, with assistance from Pete Laskie as the producer.

Something to note about the show: those involved give it a PG-13 rating for some adult language and situations involving racism in the south.
