Gehlen Catholic High School to hold performance of “Murder on the 518”
Gehlen Catholic High School will bring mystery, humor, and suspense to the stage next week with its upcoming production of “Murder on the 518” by Michelle Giles in the Bill Dull Memorial Gym. Performances will be held May 6th and 9th at 7:00pm.
According to the school, the production follows a group of red-eye travelers aboard the westbound 518 whose journey takes a deadly turn. When two passengers mysteriously die — apparently poisoned — and a rockslide halts the train in an isolated canyon, everyone in the dining car becomes a suspect. The eccentric passengers, including two newlyweds, an astronomy professor, a sports recruiter, a CEO, a movie star, an aspiring musician, and others, try to work together with the waitstaff to find the murderer before they reach their destination and the killer escapes for good.
The production features a cast and crew of approximately 20 students and is directed by Danna Schuster, who was recruited by the students themselves. In a press release, Schuster stated that the students have “worked incredibly hard, and it’s been so rewarding to watch their confidence grow,” and that “this is a fun, fast-paced show, and the students are giving fantastic performances.”
The school encourages the community to come out and enjoy an evening of mystery and fun while supporting the students who have brought this production to life. Tickets are available at the door or under the “News” section of the homepage at gehlencatholic.org.

Jensen Subaru shares the love with Sunnybrook Hope Center
Sioux City’s Sunnybrook Church Hope Center received a major contribution from the Jensen Subaru car dealership on Tuesday. The local car dealer presented a check for $12,955 to the Hope Center Food Pantry as part of their “Share the Love” charity program.
Tina Stroud, executive director of the Sunnybrook Hope Center, says the gift will provide a lot of meals for Siouxland families.
Sales manager Josh Voight says Jensen Subaru has helped the Hope Center for the past five years.
Stroud says the number of local people needing food assistance keeps growing, and everyone is welcome to come in, but appointments are preferred.
The Hope Center Food Pantry is set up like a grocery store with wide aisles and shelves and coolers stocked with product.
The Hope Center is located in Sunnybrook Community Church at 5601 Sunnybrook Drive in Sioux City.
