The Le Mars Municipal Band’s 2026 summer concert season will begin soon with a new music director for the first time in nearly four decades. Dr. Christopher Brandt explained to KLEM how he got the opportunity to take over from former director Jerry Bertrand.
Brandt says he intends to continue the legacy of the band that Bertrand created.
This summer’s concert series starts with a performance at the Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, and officially gets underway on June 10th in Foster Park. Brandt says that all concerts this season will have a theme.
Brandt says he’s looking forward to working with the band and to provide free concerts for the community.
The Le Mars Municipal Band’s summer concert series will take place every Wednesday at 7:30pm between June 10th and July 15th in Foster Park. Those interested in sponsoring the band can reach out to band treasurer John Schneider.
