Part of Lincoln Street closed for repairs

The affected section is located between Sapp Bros. on 18th Street SW and the entrance to Gus Pech Manufacturing. Street supervisor Scott Kneip stated the closure is due to repairs to a 48-inch culvert underneath the road in addition to general street repairs, with access to Business Highway 75 from 18th Street SW remaining unaffected. The repairs are expected to take around two weeks, weather permitting.

MidAmerican Energy proposes natural gas delivery rate hike
MidAmerican Energy has filed a request with the Iowa Utilities Commission to update the delivery portion of its natural gas rates, which supports the infrastructure and operations needed to move natural gas to homes and businesses. The company says the increase only affects delivery rates, and not the cost of gas.
Karrie Leza, vice president, gas delivery, issued a statement saying “we know customers don’t want to see any part of their bill go up, and we do not take that lightly.” The company says the typical monthly residential bill would increase by about 5% — from $55.60 to $58.49. Business customer impacts would vary by rate class and usage but are generally expected to be in a similar percentage range, with final bill changes determined by the Iowa Utilities Commission.
As allowed by law, MidAmerican will implement temporary gas delivery rates on July 17th while the Iowa Utilities Commission reviews the permanent rate request. If final rates are lower than temporary rates, MidAmerican will refund the difference to customers with interest.
A public consumer comment meeting on the rate hike will take place in Sioux City at the Downtown Convention Center on September 10th starting at 6pm.
