(Akron) — Last Friday, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig visited with an Akron couple about their innovative business. Bill and Sue Brown own Insuligts Company. Insulights was the brain child of Bill Brown as he has invented insulators for an electric fence equipped with a LED light that flashes during the pulse of the electricity running through the fence. Brown talks about the purpose behind the Agriculture Secretary’s visit.

Brown says he created the insulights with the thought in mind it would help cattle producers, but the need for the product has expanded into international markets

The Akron inventor says he recently filled an order destined to Alaska to help protect campground sites.

Brown says his production facilities so far, consist of his office and his home, with family members serving as his employees.

Near the end of his visit, Iowa Agriculture Secretary Naig asked the Browns what they may need from the state of Iowa, or how the state can help spread the word.

In addition to inventing the insulights, Brown has also created an item referred to as a “Tree Pan” that helps protect young trees after they are planted.
