Ice Cream Days!  June 16 thru 19 in Le Mars!

Old Fashioned Goodness can’t be beat. And organizers of the 2010 Ice
Cream Days June 16-19 in Le Mars are lining up four days of fun and
flavor.
A tasty event at this year’s celebration is the Grill ‘n’ Chill Rib Rally.
The Grill ‘n’ Chill Rib Rally starts spicing things up at 9 a.m.
Saturday, June 19, at the Olson Cultural Event Center, 33 1st Street
NE. Come and savor some of the best ribs you’ll ever taste prepared by
local amateur grill masters. Racks and racks of ribs will be smoked
for your enjoyment and to give you a chance to take in the sights,
smells and sounds of the many ways to prepare smoked meats.
Preparations begin at 9 a.m. with judging at 5:30 p.m. Entry fee for
grillers is $25 with paybacks awarded. Entry form is available at

the day. Sweet treats will be provided courtesy of Blue Bunny®.

Ice Cream Days 2010 will offer fun for everyone throughout Le Mars’
official kickoff for summer.

On Wednesday, June 16, stop by the Le Mars Arts Center, 200 Central
Avenue SE, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. for “Artistic Flavors of a
Textile Kind” which will feature exhibits by area textile students and
professionals and Ice Cream Days logo entries for 2010. The exhibit
continues at the same time each day through Saturday. At 5 p.m. the
Tri State Drive In Cruisers will be at Bob’s Drive Inn, Business
Highway 75 South. Enjoy music from the 50’s and 60’s while strolling
through a collection of restored, classic, street rod, muscle and
other cars.
Activities on Thursday, June 17, include events at the Plymouth County
Historical Museum, 335 1st Avenue SW, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Five
floors of completely handicapped accessible exhibits offer a varied
look into the past. And stop by the 1940’s Miller’s Lunch for an ice
cold root beer float.
The Primebank Ice Cream Social gets underway at 37 1st Avenue NW at 6
p.m. Thursday, followed at 9 p.m. by an outdoor family movie at the
Olson Cultural Event Center.
The 15th annual YMCA 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament heats up the weekend
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 18, on 1st Avenue SW and 1st Avenue
NW in downtown Le Mars. Entry form is available at www.lemarsiowa.com.
Cleveland Castle Family Fun Fest is slated for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
at Cleveland Park, 3rd Street SE. Make your way to the Ice Cream
Castle playground for fun, entertainment and treats compliments of
Chamber businesses.
Bike riding kicks off a full day of old fashioned fun on Saturday,
June 19. The third annual “Tour de Plymouth” bike ride leaves the Hy-
Vee parking lot at 7 a.m. with two route choices. There is a $20 pre-
registration via Allsportscentral.
com or $25 day of event. One of the weekend’s most popular events, the
Ice Cream Days Parade, begins at 9 a.m. Saturday. Parade lines up at
the Plymouth County Fairgrounds, moves west on 6th Street NE to
Central Avenue, south through downtown, past Foster Park and ends at
8th Street South. Entry forms available at www.lemarsiowa.com. Art in
the Park, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Foster Park, 600 Central Avenue
SE, features work of artists, crafters and commercial vendors. “Scoops
of Fun” will provide kids a chance to be creative and take home some
fun by working
with community groups providing free craft and art activities at
Foster Park from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. SuFuDu Drumline will perform at
the park at 11 a.m.
The last evening of Ice Cream Days 2010 will feature a Kiwanis/Aktion
Club Ice Cream Social from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Foster Park and
a 7 p.m. concert by the Le Mars Municipal Band, also at Foster Park.
