(LE MARS)–The Plymouth County Sheriff’s office is investigating a truck-train collision at a crossing just west of Oyens on Otter Avenue.
According to the preliminary information, a 1997 dump truck owned by Walker Excavating Inc. of Le Mars was being driven north on the gravel road about 11:40 this morning. A Canadian National train with two engines and five cars was traveling east through the crossing.
After the collision, part of the truck ended up in the water of the creek. The driver of the truck died at the accident scene. The 37-year-old white male from Remsen, Iowa has not been identified pending relative notification.
