Le Mars woman charged with arson

(LE MARS)–A Le Mars woman is accused of intentionally causing a fire at her home last month.

The house fire on December 9th caused more than five-thousand dollars in damage to the Ronald and Mary Morris residence at 309 Fifth Street Northwest.

An investigation by the Le Mars Fire Department, Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office and Le Mars Police determined the fire was intentionally set in two separate areas of the basement of the home.

Based on that investigation, 53-year-old Mary Morris this afternoon (Thursday) was arrested for the fire at her home. The charge of arson in the second degree is a felony.

Morris was being held in the Plymouth County Jail. Bond is set at 10-thousand dollars.
