(WESTFIELD)–A partnership to preserve more than 150 acres of land southeast of Westfield is working toward a fund raising goal.
The Le Mars Sportsman’s Club, Plymouth County Pheasants Forever, The Plymouth County Conservation Board, and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation are working together to add the land to Five Ridge Prairie State Preserve.
Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation’s mission is to protect land, water and wildlife. According to Brian Fankhauser of the Heritage Foundation, the western Plymouth County land being acquired is in a large area of protected land.

About 70 percent of the 415-thousand dollars project has been raised, but additional contributions through the Heritage Foundation, Plymouth County Conservation Board Foundation, Le Mars Sportsman’s Club or Plymouth County Pheasants Forever are being accepted.
