Early Harvest Yields Vary

(Kingsley) — This year’s fall harvest is now underway, and local grain elevator officials are reporting corn yields that are all across the board.

Chris Pedersen is the manager of the Farmers Elevator Co-op at Kingsley.  He says the crops are maturing fast, but the moisture levels for corn are a little higher than desired. He says farmers have had anything from poor yields to excellent yields.

As for soybeans, Pedersen says soybeans have just started to come to the local elevator, and yields so far are performing better than expected.

Pedersen says both the test weights and the quality of the corn and soybeans have been good.
