Farm Fatal Accident Near Kingsley

(Kingsley) — A farm accident has claimed a life of a rural Pierson man on Tuesday evening.  At about 10:20 p.m. emergency services responded to a call at the 2800 block of Tamarack Avenue when apparently a tractor was fully submerged in a river. The Plymouth County Dive Team, as part of the Plymouth County sheriff’s department was activated and found 48 year old David Klingensmith pinned under the tractor in the water.  Apparently, Klingensmith was driving his tractor south on Tamarack Avenue.  As the tractor approached a bridge, there was a pickup truck parked on the north side of the bridge.  Two people were standing on the bridge fishing off the side.  Klingensmith swerved to avoid a collision with the parked vehicle and went down an embankment and rolled into the river.  Klingensmith drowned and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Plymouth County Medical Examiner.  The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.  The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Kingsley Police Department, Kingsley Fire and Rescue, Kingsley Ambulance, and Mercy Air Care. Rescue units were on the scene for nearly four hours.
