Cork It Selected As The Second Cash Mob
(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Chamber of Commerce held its second “cash mob” today. Mayor Dick Kirchoff announced the business in which shoppers went to “mob” and spend $20 each.

With that announcement, close to 30 shoppers got in their vehicles to travel to the south end of town to the wine and liquor store. Cork It Owner Kathy Schwader says she believes in the concept of a “cash mob” saying it is a nice way to support local small businesses.

Le Mars Ambulance Receives $3000 Gift
(Le Mars) — Dean Foods of Le Mars presented a check for $3000 to the Le Mars Ambulance Association. Accepting the gift on behalf of the Ambulance Association was Bill Rosacker. Rosacker says the money will go towards the purchase of a new ambulance.

Jarrod Otta serves as the plant manager of Dean Foods in Le Mars. He says there are four employees at Dean Foods that serve on an ambulance crew either at Le Mars or at Remsen. He says this is one way the company can give back to the community.

The new ambulance is scheduled to arrive and be ready for service in early September.
Bohnenkamp Retires As Plymouth County Paralegal Assistant
(Le Mars) — The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors appointed Chad Ericson of Akron as the newest member to serve on the County Judicial Magistrate Committee. Ericson also serves as a city council member for Akron. During the supervisor meeting, County Attorney Darrin Raymond informed the board of the retirement of Kay Bohnenkamp from the attorney’s office. Bohnenkamp has been working with the county attorney’s office as a paralegal for the last 19 years. Raymond says Bohnenkamp worked on five different homicide cases during her tenure. The paralegal assistant was
described as a “case manager.”

Raymond says Bohnenkamp specialized on juvenile cases, and through the years her work with juveniles have touched over 1000 families.
