(Le Mars)–Several nativities from the Plymouth County area will be on display for”The Museum Manger” exhibit opening tomorrow (Sunday) at the Plymouth County Museum. An open house will highlight the display tomorrow, December 2nd, beginning at 1:45 with a special music program. A childrens group, a soloist, and the barbershop quartet “Pitch Blend” are all expected to perform.
“The Museum Manger” is a display of several hundred nativities from the Plymouth County area. This is the third year for the display in the museum’s renovated 1905 Study Hall, but according to volunteers the 2012 display is completely different than the previous two years. An area for Memorial Nativities continues as a part of the display, and anyone still wishing to display a nativity in memory of a loved one may do so. No admission will be charged for “The Museum Manger” exhibit opening tomorrow at the Plymouth County Museum, but a free will offering will be collected.
C-38 Bridge Relacement Complete
(Le Mars) — The bridge replacement on C-38 from Juniper Avenue to Kestral Avenue has been completed in the southwest corner of Le Mars. The road is now open with no restrictions.
Lots of Holiday Cheer in Le Mars tonight
(Le Mars) And of course tonight kicks off the official start of the holiday season in Le Mars with the Children’s Lighted Parade at 6pm and the first night of Pioneer Village, beginning at 5:30. Pioneer Village features over 50 decorated trees, a live nativity, marshmallow roasting and refreshments, horse drawn wagon rides and of course Santa will be there ready to hear what you would like for Christmas.
Services set for Iowa native killed in Afghanistan
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Services have been scheduled for an Iowa
native who was during combat in Afghanistan. U.S. Army Sergeant Joseph Richardson died November 16th while on patrol. Richardson was assigned to 1st
Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.
A funeral is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. today (Saturday) at St. Cecilia Catholic
Church in Algona. A graveside service will follow at the Indian Mounds Cemetery in Humboldt.
The 23-year-old Richardson spent most of his childhood in Algona and moved to Booneville, Arkansas after the ninth grade.
