Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Report Finding Body Of Missing Person
(Le Mars) — The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department is reporting finding a body near
Akron on Friday morning. The body is a deceased white male and is thought to be a missing
person. The name and age of the individual are not being released at this time. The
manner and cause of death is still under investigation. We hope to have more details from
the Plymouth County Sheriff’s office later today.

but most of those receive little attention from police
The Des Moines Register (https://dmreg.co/1djLytc ) investigated how missing-person
cases are handled in Iowa and identified several concerns about the system.
Although every missing-person case could have a tragic ending, most are resolved
simply when a runaway child returns home or an adult who left intentionally is found.
Gerard Meyers with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says it’s a challenge
for law enforcement to stay vigilant about these cases.
The newspaper found that many cases are largely ignored as runaways. And the
missing-person database is often outdated and lacks detailed descriptions and photographs.
Some police departments do little follow-up.

Woodbury County Inmate Found Dead In Cell
(Sioux City) — An inmate being held in the long term holding area of the Woodbury County
Jail was found dead in his cell Saturday evening. The inmate was a 32 year old male. All
attempts to revive the inmate were unsuccessful. Following protocol, the Woodbury County
Sheriff’s office has called upon the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to conduct
the investigation of the death. The death is still currently under investigation. The
name of the inmate will be released at a later time pending the appropriate notifications.
As the investigation progresses, more information will be released at the discretion of the
Iowa D-C-I in conjunction with the Woodbury County sheriff’s office.
Le Mars Fire Department Respond To Two Calls On Sunday
(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department had a busy Sunday, responding to two calls. The Le Mars Fire Department was called to a personal injury accident that happened at about 8:00 a.m. on Business Highway 75 and 24th Street. The Le Mars Fire Department was at the scene of the accident for more than an hour. Additional details are not known at this time about the accident. The Le Mars Fire and Rescue squad also responded to the Four Brothers Restaurant located at 1430 Twin Rivers Blvd. for a fire alarm. The call came in at about 11:24 a.m. Fire crews were on the scene for only 20 minutes.
Hinton Fire Department Responds To Accident Scene
(Hinton) — At about the same time the Le Mars Fire Department was assisting at an accident, the Hinton Fire and Rescue Department was called to 31629 County Road K-49 for another personal injury accident. The call was received at about 7:52 a.m. Fire crews were on the accident scene for nearly an hour and fifteen minutes.
Brooklyn Man Dies From Sky Diving Accident
BROOKLYN, Iowa (AP) – The owner of Skydive Iowa says a 56-year-old man who fell to his
death Friday had planned only to observe the flight, not jump.
Company owner Bruce Kennedy tells the Des Moines Register (https://dmreg.co/14YcHhN )
that the eastern Iowa man’s parachute deployed prematurely during take off and he was
pulled from the plane.
The Iowa State Patrol said Sunday that Wayne Kidrowski, of Brooklyn, died in the
accident.
Kennedy says everyone on Skydive Iowa flights wears a parachute. Kidrowski had
previously flown on more than 10 observation flights.
Kidrowski died after the plane took off from Brooklyn, Iowa, Friday evening.
Authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.

Authorities Searching For Escaped Inmate
NEW MARKET, Iowa (AP) – Officers are scouring a section of Taylor County in southwest
Iowa for an escaped inmate suspected of wounding a sheriff’s deputy.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says the shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m.
Sunday on Iowa Highway 2 just east of New Market. A deputy was shot twice after he left his
cruiser to check on a man walking along the highway. The man then took the deputy’s vehicle
and fled. Another deputy soon arrived, picked up the wounded officer and the two began
chasing the stolen patrol car.
The stolen cruiser rolled about 40 minutes later after a shot-filled pursuit. The man
fled on foot.
The department says officers are looking for the Rodney Long, who escaped the
minimum-security prison facility in Clarinda on Friday morning.
