Supervisors To Discuss Healthy Food Plan
(Le Mars) — The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors are expected to review and adopt a
county Healthy Food Policy for the Plymouth County Wellness program when they convene this
morning. The County Supervisors will also be bid letting for a fiber optic project. The county governing board will also hear from Justin Higman of Higman Sand and Gravel to get an update regarding a land swap deal that involves a pond project. Tom Rohe, the county engineer is also expected to offer a construction update to the supervisors.
Sitzmann Arrested By Plymouth County Authorities
(Le Mars) — Plymouth County authorities have arrested 28 year old Austin Sitzmann of Le Mars for Harassment 1st degree and Threat use of Explosive or Incendiary Device. Sitzmann is being held on a $7,500.00 bond.
Boger Convicted For Escape From Residential Treatment Facility
(Orange City) — Sioux County Attorney Coleman J. McAllister announced that Shawn Edward Boger, age 23, of Storm Lake, Iowa, was sentenced August 26, 2013, in Sioux County District Court for the crime of Escape from Custody, a Class D Felony, in violation of Iowa Code Section 719.4(1). Sioux County Attorney Coleman J. McAllister prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Iowa.
Shawn Boger was confined at the Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) located in
Sheldon, Iowa, by virtue of a conviction for Theft in the First Degree, a Class C felony,
which conviction occurred in Buena Vista County in 2009. On February 17, 2013, Boger tore
out a window screen in his bedroom and escaped from the RTF by climbing out the window.
The RTF is a minimum security facility. Boger was arrested on April 26, 2013.
The Defendant pleaded guilty to Escape and was sentenced to five years in prison.
The Court ordered the prison term to be run consecutively to the 10-year prison sentence
Defendant is already serving arising because of the Buena Vista County theft conviction.
Old Time Country Music Comes To Le Mars
(Le Mars) — Even if you are unfamiliar with most of the names of musicians associated
with the National Old-time Country and Folk Music Festival that is holding its 39th
convention this week at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in Le Mars, you perhaps have heard
some of the music. More than 600 performers are scheduled to appear in Le Mars for the
week-long festival. Banjos, Fiddles, Harmonicas, Guitars, are all instruments
characteristic of the acoustic sounds you can hear at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds.
Bob Everhart serves as the director for the Old Time Country Music Festival. He says
performers from across the nation as well as across the oceans have come to Le Mars to
play.

Everhart says the festival is attracting some big names known to the music industry.
Names such as Barbara Fairchild,singer of Teddy Bear, Joan Cash, the sister of Johnny
Cash, LuLu Roman of Hee Haw fame, and Urban Cowboy movie legend Micky Gilley.

Gilley is scheduled to perform on Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m.
The festival lasts all week long, with daily admission of $15. But Everhart says although
the admission covers the fee for all performers, he suggests those who want to see Micky
Gilley should arrive early.
