Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office And Le Mars Police Arrest Akron Man
(Le Mars) — The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office along with the Le Mars Police Department made an arrest warrant this morning at about 11:30 a.m. at 306 5th Street northwest in Le Mars. 35 year old Nathan Leekley of Akron was at that residence and was taken into custody without incident. Leekley was arrested on a warrant for burglary in the first degree, a class C felony, domestic abuse assault, an aggravated misdemeanor, and violation of a no contact order, a simple misdemeanor. Leekley was taken to the Plymouth County Jail where he is being held on a $100,000 cash bond. The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Akron earlier today, during the early morning hours.
Sioux City Police Investigate Shooting Incident
(Sioux City) — Sioux City Police are investigating a shooting incident that happened last night at about 11:20 p.m. The police were called to Follis Apartments located at 923 Douglas Street for a report of shots being fired. Officers conducted an investigation and discovered 33 year old Ryan Newson of Sioux City had fired a warning shot in the air after having a disagreement with another person who was walking in the apartment building. A search warrant was then issued on an apartment and located the firearm used by Newson. Newson was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, simple assault and discharging a firearm within city limits. Newson is being held at the Woodbury County jail on a $15,900 bond. No further information is available at this time.
Dordt College Prepares For Donald Trump Campaign Visit
(Sioux Center) — People wanting to see Republican presidential candidate and business tycoon Donald Trump at Dordt College in Sioux Center on this morning may want to leave early to be assured of seating. In preparation for the political campaign event scheduled for the B.J. Haan Auditorium on Dordt College campus, the college is advising those who live nearby and might be traveling to events in the vicinity to be aware that parking is expected to fill up the streets and parking lots. The Dordt College Recreation Center and Campus Center will be closed on Saturday morning due to the preparations for the event, as will all other campus buildings. Security preparations have been directed by the United States Secret Service. Security during the event will be provided by the Secret Service and the Sioux Center Police. The number of people who registered for the event exceeds the amount of space available, so the campaign has asked would-be attendees to keep the following in mind.
* You must have an EventBrite ticket, either printed or on your phone, to enter the event.
*Tickets do not guarantee entry. Attendance is first come, first served until capacity is reached.
*No posters, banners, or signs maybe brought into the event.
*There is no dress code.
*No professional cameras with detachable lens, tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, or GoPros are allowed.
*Identification is not required.
*The Secret Service will secure the auditorium and the Recreation Center prior to the event, and will open the doors at 9:00 a.m.
*For ease of getting in, please minimize the items you bring in. Bags will be searched, and metal detectors will be used.
*Dordt College will attempt to accomodate the overflow for registrants who did not get into the B.J. Haan Auditorium by providing space in the Rec Center to watch the live stream provided by the campaign.
*Attendees are advised that once they are in the auditorium, they will not be able to come and go.
Dordt College buildings will not be open prior to 9:00 a.m. A girls’ basketball clinic in the DeWitt Gymnasium is still slated for 9:00 a.m. However, the Rec Center will not be open to the public at all on Saturday morning. Dordt College buildings are expected to reopen by 1:00 p.m. that afternoon.
Sharla Gradert serves as the Dordt College Events Director. She says officials are anticipating a large crowd that will attend Saturday morning’s event, and college officials and the Sioux Center Police Department will be assisting people with parking.

Dordt College will be hosting two basketball games in the afternoon, and originally had scheduled a basketball clinic to take place in the morning. However, Gradert believes the two events will not overlap.
