Le Mars Ambulance Service Holding Fundraiser On Sunday

(Le Mars) — In honor of National E-M-T Week, the Le Mars Ambulance Service will hold a fund raiser breakfast scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday) at the Fire Station Number 2 located at 12th Street southeast. Le Mars Ambulance Director Bill Rosacker has the details of tomorrow’s breakfast.

The Le Mars Ambulance Service is fortunate to have 20 volunteers that offer their time and assist during emergencies. However, Rosacker says the Le Mars Ambulance Service is always looking for additional volunteers.

He says becoming a certified Emergency Medical Technician requires several hours of training. In many communities, Rosacker says, there simply are not enough volunteers to maintain a local ambulance service.

For the last several years, Rosacker says the Le Mars Ambulance Service has seen an increase in the number of calls.

The Le Mars Ambulance Service operates what is known as a provisional paramedic service, which according to Rosacker, means I-V’s and other medication can be administered.

On Monday, we will continue our series of who to call when we need help, as we will learn more about the Floyd Valley Healthcare Nursing program.
