(LE MARS)– “It’s a Wonderful Life- A Live Radio Play” will open at the Postal Playhouse Friday, November 11th. It is the last show of the 2016 season for the Le Mars Community Theater players.
The show tells the classic tale of lovable family man George Bailey, the nasty Mr. Potter, and the money troubles of the Building and Loan in Bedford Falls; but there’s a twist. Director Margaret Britton explains.
Round that off with with the “On-Air” sign, commercial breaks that are sure to entertain and 40’s costuming, you’ll be transported back in time.
Britton says that it will be fun to watch Curt Sitzmann as the “Foley Artist.” Never heard the term before? Me either- it means he’ll be reproducing sounds to compliment the show, and it will happen right in front of your eyes!
There are 48 different characters in this show, with about a dozen people executing those roles. New faces to the stage include Father Paul Eisle, Lindsey Oetken and Joe Sitzmann. There is also some role sharing going on for different performances, so if you see the show twice you might get to see a new face or two!
Britton is directing this show just months after her mother, Bonnie Dull, passed away. Dull was a founding member of the Le Mars Community theater, and a show with “Wonderful Life” in the title seems fitting after her passing. Margaret Britton says her mom would enjoy this show.
The show will go on Friday, November 11th through Thursday, November 17th. Show time is 7:30pm with a Sunday matinee at 2pm. For tickets to “It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Play” call 546-5788 from 11-2, weekdays- or reserve online at www.lemarscommtheatre.org.
