(Akron) — As part of its Veteran’s Day program, the Sons of American Legion Post 186 from Akron invited Trevor Maroshek and his German Shepard dog named “Chopper” to appear at today’s ceremonies. Maroshek, is a former Navy Seal and by trade was a sniper for the U-S Navy. He has participated on four tours…two to Iraq, one to southeast Asia, and one to Afghanistan. Maroshek spoke to the students of Akron-Westfield as well as to the general community. Maroshek talks about how he and his dog “Chopper” became a team.
Maroshek says he is very proud of the fact that there were no American servicemen casualties during his watch while Chopper was with him. He recounts a specific experience how his dog “Chopper” perhaps saved the lives of 70 service personnel.
The former Navy Seal was complimentary to the students and people that he met from the Akron area.
