Plymouth County Authorities Arrest Le Mars Man For Possession

(Le Mars) — The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop Saturday evening at about 8:20 p.m. on a vehicle near Kestrel Avenue on Highway 3. The driver, Weston Marsh, age 18 of Le Mars, IA, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana residue after a search of the
vehicle was conducted. Marsh was arrested and booked into the Plymouth County Jail for possession of a controlled substance 1st offense, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

 

 

Onawa Man Dies From Injuries Sustained From Fire

ONAWA, Iowa (AP) – Authorities say a 41-year-old man has died from injuries suffered in a western Iowa house fire.
Firefighters were dispatched to the Onawa home around 9:30 p.m. on July 3.
Neighbors reported hearing a big bang before the flames erupted.
One person at the home, Dallas Seward, was injured. Ronald Humphrey of the Iowa State Fire Marshal Division confirmed Tuesday that Seward died Sunday at an Omaha, Nebraska, hospital.
Humphrey also says the cause of the blast and resulting blaze is still being investigated.

 

 

Community Raises Money To Help Park Damaged By Tornado

PRAIRIEBURG, Iowa (AP) – Residents in a city in eastern Iowa are raising money to repair a city park destroyed by a tornado that ripped through the community last month.
Prairieburg Mayor Arlene Holub tells KWWL-TV (https://bit.ly/2tDOJLH ) that the Baker Community Park is used for many events, including graduation parties and outdoor weddings.
Nonprofit Good Ole’ Boys maintains and runs the park. They’ve started a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to help the rebuilding process. The group has raised about $1,200 of its $20,000 goal as of Tuesday.
Residents want the park rebuilt by Labor Day for the city’s annual tractor pull event.
The EF-2 tornado that destroyed the park also damaged nearby homes and businesses. The Enhanced Fujita scale rates the tornado intensity in the country from zero to five, five being the most intense.

 

 

School Bus Gets Rear-ended

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) – No students were injured when the Davenport school bus they were on was rear-ended by a pickup truck.
Davenport television station KWQC reports (https://bit.ly/2t16gyQ ) that a dozen students were riding on the bus when the crash happened around noon Tuesday.
Fire officials say the students on the bus were part of a summer school program in the Davenport School District.
One person in the truck was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
