Agri-Vision Hosts “Day Of Play”

(Le Mars) — Small children that never have the opportunity to see tractors and other farm equipment up close may want to attend this evening’s “Day of Play” hosted by Agri-Vision, the local John Deere dealership. Kris Westhoff helps coordinate the activity. She says it is an opportunity for children to learn more about the farm.

Westhoff says the tractors are all equipped with a “buddy seat” in order to keep everyone safe. Westhoff says they will also have crafts for the children to create. The local John Deere farm equipment dealer will feature two bouncy inflatables.

The John Deere official says the event is open to all, and she suggests the age level is for children up to 5th grade. Like many other events, the Day of Play was cancelled last year due to the pandemic. Westhoff believes families look forward to participating in tonight’s event. The “Day of Play” at Agri-Vision will run from 5-7 p.m. Agri-Vision is west of Le Mars about two miles on Key Avenue.

New Iowa House Minority Leader Says Democrats Must Focus on 2022

(Des Moines, IA) — The new Iowa House minority leader says she’s unwilling to concede any part of the state to Republicans. The 41 Democrats in the Iowa House met Monday night and elected State Representative Jennifer Konfrst of Windsor Heights as their new leader. Konfrst told reporters this (Tuesday) morning, “I talked a lot about the importance of learning from 2020, but not living in 2020 and focusing on the 2022 election cycle.” Due to a delay in delivery of U-S Census data, the new maps for legislative districts won’t be developed until August. Konfrst said she’s already recruiting candidates to challenge the Republicans’ current 59-seat House majority and is committed to “doing all we can to get to 51 in 2022.” Konfrst has been a full-time professor at Drake University since 2013, teaching journalism and strategic communications classes. House Speaker Pat Grassley said in a statement that House Republicans represent 97 of Iowa’s 99 counties and “are advancing an agenda that matches Iowans’ values.”
