Plymouth County Fair Queen Is Crowned Iowa State Fair Queen

(Des Moines) — An 18 year old girl from northwest Iowa representing Plymouth County was crowned the new Iowa State Fair queen.  McKenna Henrich of Akron was presented the title during the fair queen ceremony held Saturday evening.  Henrich says she was thrilled with the honor and wants to make a difference.

Henrich says she received some valuable advice from the 2009 Iowa State Fair Queen, Caine Westergard, also from Henrich’s hometown of Akron.

Prior to the queen ceremony, Henrich was approached by the granddaughter of Brenda Brown of Taylor County, who is of about seven years of age.  The young girl was impressed by seeing all the queen candidates.  The young girl gave hugs to the queen contestants.  Henrich took off her tiara from being the Plymouth County Fair queen and placed it on the head of the young girl and then posed for pictures.  The young girl was all smiles upon having the tiara on her head. Minutes later, Henrich would be named the Iowa State Fair Queen.

Henrich will receive $8,000 is scholarships, $600 gift card, a trophy, sash, and crown, diamond earrings, cowboy boots, and an engraved brick from the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation.
