Rescue Units Respond To Two-Vehicle Accident Thursday Morning

(Le Mars) — Emergency rescue units responded to a two-vehicle accident involving a county-owned dump truck and a sedan car.  The accident was reported at about 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning and occurred at the intersection of County Road C-16 and Hickory Avenue, about 12 miles northwest of Le Mars.  The vehicles had collided at the intersection with the county dump  truck heading westbound, and the car was traveling south on Hickory Avenue.  Plymouth County Sheriff’s authorities say both victims sustained what would be determined as non-life threatening injuries.  Ireton Ambulance transported one victim to Floyd Valley Healthcare of Le Mars.  The driver of the sedan car was needing to be extricated from her vehicle.  Le Mars Fire and Rescue personnel used the “Jaws of Life” in order to free the female driver from her vehicle.  Both the truck and the car ended up in the north ditch a few hundred feet from the point of impact at the collision.  The dump truck sustained some front-end damage, but the sedan car had front-end and side panel damage.  Airbags had deployed on the car.  Le Mars Fire and Rescue transported the driver of the car to Floyd Valley Healthcare for additional observation.  Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the accident investigation. Ireton Ambulance, Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, Plymouth County Secondary Roads Department, and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene of the accident.
