Gehlen Catholic Football Sports Deep Roster for 2022

Gehlen Catholic football made the postseason in 2021 for just the second time under head coach Jeremy Schindler. A lot of the pieces are back after that taste of postseason football, and Coach Schindler says the Jays have been showing good energy in practice.

The Jays return their quarterback in Connor Kraft and top receiver in Keaten Bonderson as guys who will get a lot of the draw offensively. Their connection in the passing game was vital for Gehlen’s success in games last season. This year, that success will be vital once again, and Coach Schindler says, for it to be there, the Jays need some good play on the offensive line.

The Jays are loaded with weapons outside of Keaten Bonderson as well. Gehlen Catholic is loaded with playmakers on the offensive side of the ball that can have an impact. Coach Schindler says those guys are important especially with a lot of attention drawn to Bonderson on any given night.

The Gehlen Catholic defense had its moments last season where they looked strong and dominant. In those instances, the Jays were very physical and making plays all over the field. This year, Gehlen Catholic wants to see that in more games. Coach Schindler says, for the defense to be strong this year, they will need to up the intensity.

The Jays start their season at Unity Christian in a matchup that the Jays lost late to start 2021. This year, Coach Schindler says the Jays need to be great in the open field to have a chance at taking down the Knights.

Kickoff between the Jays and Knights is at 7:00 tonight. KLEM Radio will broadcast the game live on-air and on our video stream. Pregame coverage begins at 6:15 with the Radio Iowa Scouting Report.
