There were three separate car accidents at two uncontrolled intersections last week in Le Mars. The first occurred Tuesday the fifth at the intersection of 7th Street SW and 4th Ave SW around noon. The second occurred on Thursday a few blocks to the northeast at the intersection of 6th Street SW and 1st Ave SW around 3:30. And on Friday, there was a two vehicle collision at the same intersection as the first crash, 7th Street SW and 4th Ave SW, which is just a block north of Le Mars Community High School.
Le Mars Fire Rescue Chief Dave Schipper says department members plan to meet with city officials to discuss adding yield signs to one of the intersections.
Concerned community members in the area say that they have seen many accidents occur at these intersections over the years and want to see something done to help the issue.
