TOUCH A TRUCK
 
Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative is hosting a “Touch a Truck” event this Saturday in conjunction with the Le Mars Farmer’s Market.  Angela Catton, Vice President of Communications and Development at NIPCO, says at least ten large trucks will be on display behind the stage at the Olson Cultural Event Center from 9 a.m. till noon.
Catton says kids of ages will see a variety of vehicles from a school bus and firetruck to a dump truck and law enforcement swat van to name just a few that will be on display.

HUNGER’S A FACTOR, FILL THE TRACTOR
 
Le Mars FFA Chapter will be hosting “Hunger is a Factor, Fill the Tractor”  during the Le Mars Community school’s Homecoming Football game tonight. The collection of non-perishable food items will be going to the Siouxland Foodbank. Gametime is 7 p.m. and you can fill the tractor buckets from 6:30 through half-time.  If you can’t attend the game, donations can be given to any Le Mars FFA member or donations can be dropped off at the ag building.
Le Mars Community High School is celebrating homecoming with the first ever class olympics today. Each class will compete for the title Homecoming Champions. Events include stuffing the outfit (stuff balloons into a gigantic outfit), football gear relay, football fast feet, spelling bee, plunger race with balloons, and the grand finale, tug of war. Following the class olympics will be a pep rally. The parade lineup will be between 1:15 pm and 1:45 pm with a start time of 1:45 pm this year.  The parade route starts at 8th Street South and continues down Central Avenue to 2nd Street North. The parade will be aired on KLEM Radio, and video streamed on the KLEM You Tube Channel.

LCS EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
 
An Elementary Guidance Counselor has been named as the Le Mars Community Schools Employee of the Month.   Abby Simington was surprised with the honor Thursday morning at Kluckhohn Elementary. Simington has been employed by the school district for three years. Her nomination describes Abby as a caring person that goes above and beyond when asked to do anything to help students, making sure they feel safe and loved. Congratulations to Abby Simington, the Le Mars Community Schools Employee of the Month.

BOOK SALE
 
Friends of the Library Book Sale got underway yesterday with books selling for $1.00 & $2.00.  The sale will continues today from 10am until 4pm with all books half price.  Tomorrow, on Saturday, the remaining books will all be free.  Friends of the Library Bookstore is located at 520 4th Street Southwest, across from Kwik Star.

ORANGE CITY MAN ARRESTED
On Monday afternoon ( September 23,) the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Shion Lee, age 21, of Orange City. The arrest stemmed from an investigation after it was reported that Lee had been sending nude photographs of himself to a minor; upon further investigation, images were recovered from the recipients phone. Lee was charged with telephone dissemination of obscene material to a minor.
