Feenstra Family Picnic
4th District Congressman Randy Feenstra held his 4th Annual Family Picnic in Sioux Center Friday.
Feenstra started by thanking his family and friends for attending, along with several Iowa Republican officials.
He then talked about a revival of conservative values in America under the Trump Administration.
Feenstra also talked about family values, the importance of religion in our lives, and the “Big Beautiful Bill” recently passed by the U.S. House. He spoke about how the budget bill will benefit Iowa farmers and business, and how Iowa will lead the way.
Feenstra stopped there though, and did not official say that he was running for the Republican nomination for Governor to succeed Kim Reynolds, who is retiring at the end of her current term. Feenstra announced Thursday evening that over 3.2 million dollars has been raised in his exploratory bid for Iowa Governor.

No Charges to be Filed in Sioux City Fatal Stabbing
Sioux City Police and the Woodbury County Attorney have completed their investigation into a fatal stabbing that occurred on March 22nd at a South Maple Street residence in Sioux City.
After a review of the evidence and circumstances, the County Attorney has determined the actions of the involved juvenile were justified, and no criminal charges will be filed.
Police and emergency personnel responded to a 9-1-1 call the evening of the incident, reporting a domestic disturbance and stabbing at the residence. Officers found 53-year-old Timothy Chark with a single stab wound to his back. Chark was transported to MercyOne Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation revealed Chark and his live-in girlfriend were in a physical altercation. During the incident, Chark had his hands around the female’s neck, restricting her ability to breathe. A 14-year-old juvenile witnessed the assault, and in response to pleas for help, retrieved a kitchen knife and stabbed Chark in the back. The juvenile then called 9-1-1, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement.
The Woodbury County Attorney’s office concluded the 14-year-old’s use of force was legally justified. Iowa law permits the use of reasonable force to protect oneself or others from imminent harm.
FBI Donation
The FBI donated 12 body armor kits to the Storm Lake Police Department this week. The donation is part of the bureau’s body armor program that allows the FBI to donate expired, but still serviceable body armor to local law enforcement partners. The kits each include a Kevlar vest, a carrier, and two level IV rifle rated plates.
For surplus protective armor to be donated, it must be in serviceable condition and meet or exceed the ballistic resistant requirements of the National Institute of Justice.
The FBI’s Defensive Systems Unit so far this year has donated 140 kits to 15 law enforcement partners in the Sioux City agency’s area of responsibility.
