Bulldog baseball loses non-conference opener

The Le Mars Community baseball team dropped their non-conference opener by the score of 12-1 to Sioux Center on Friday night.

The story of the night was Le Mars’ inability to get through an inning defensively. Sioux Center scored seven runs in the first four innings with six of them being scored with two outs. Head coach Kendall Candor says he needs players to step up in those instances and take charge to get out of an inning.

All throughout the night, the Bulldogs were making great contact but could not find away to get hits and runs off of it. Coach Candor says his guys need to stick with the process because those will turn into hits throughout the season.

Le Mars falls to 3-6 overall this season and will face a tough week with five games on the road against some stellar competition. Coach Candor says he embraces the challenge and wants to see his guys compete.

Le Mars’ next matchup is against Sioux City East in Sioux City on Tuesday with game one beginning at 5:30 PM.
