The odds of any amateur golfer making a hole in one are 12,500 to 1. It is already one of the more impressive and rare feats in all of sports. Now, what if two people aced the same exact hole with the same type of club just two days apart? What if those two people were brothers? And, what if both had never had a hole in one in their golfing career prior? That scenario seems so far-fetched, you would think it is out of a sappy golf movie, but that is exactly what happened to Brian and Tyler Schultz of Le Mars earlier this month.
Tyler’s hole in one happened first on Friday, July 17. He says the moment of realization once he found the ball in the cup was a surreal moment.
Brian’s hole in one happened on Sunday, July 19. He says he knew it was in right away.
Both of their holes in one came at Willow Creek on the black course on hole #8. They also both came with their eight irons. Both Schultz brothers have been playing golf for a while, but Tyler says none had recorded a hole in one in any prior round though coming close before.
Brian has heard it said that getting one helps lead into your second. Tyler, on the other hand, says he does not mind if he does not record another.
Being brothers means there has always been some rivalry between the two of them. Tyler says if he had to lose his two days of glory to anyone around the golf course, he is glad it was his brother.
For golfers looking to achieve the same high as the Schultz brothers, Brian says playing tons of golf is key to getting as many chances as possible.
Tyler says it also takes a little fortune to go your way as well.
