The Le Mars Community football team fought their way into the playoffs with a 36-3 win over Storm Lake on Friday night.
The Bulldogs enter postseason play with a 5-4 record with losses to some of the top teams around the area. Le Mars head coach Ken Vigdal says he is proud of the way his team responded to adversity.
The Bulldogs found themselves below .500 multiple times this season being 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 at points throughout the season. Coach Vigdal says the guys never got down on themselves and persevered to the end.
Le Mars had a great game offensively against Storm Lake tallying nearly 500 yards of offense. Coach Vigdal says they were able to get the job done at a high level.
Le Mars’ defense also played well allowing just three points. They were also consistently able to get in the backfield and recorded 11 tackles for loss. Coach Vigdal says that was impressive considering how mobile their quarterback was.
The Bulldogs enter the playoffs at 5-4 and will prepare to play Sergeant Bluff-Luton for the second time this season and for the second year in a row in the opening round of the playoffs. Coach Vigdal says the message remains the same that this is another chance for his team to get better.
Le Mars and Sergeant Bluff-Luton kick off their opening round matchup on Friday night at 7:00 PM in Sergeant Bluff. KLEM Radio will provide live coverage of the game starting at 6:15 PM.
