MOTHERSHED FOUND GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS

(Sioux City) — GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS.

THAT WAS THE VERDICT OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY JURY WHICH CONVICTED 19 YEAR OLD ISAIAH MOTHERSHED OF SIOUX CITY OF TWO COUNTS OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AND FOUR COUNTS OF FIRST DEGREE ROBBERY.

THE SEVEN WOMAN, FIVE MAN JURY DELIBERATED FOR AROUND SIX HOURS FRIDAY BEFORE RETURNING THEIR UNANIMOUS VERDICT.

MOTHERSHED SHOWED LITTLE REACTION AS JUDGE STEVEN ANDREASEN OF SIOUX CITY READ THE VERDICTS AND ORDERED HIM RETURNED TO JAIL:

 


JUDGE ANDREASEN ORDERED A PRE-SENTENCE INVESTIGATION IN THE CASE, WHICH INCLUDED ONE ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE FOR MOTHERSHED’S SHOOTING OF SIOUX CITY POLICE OFFICER RYAN MORITZ IN FEBRUARY.

MOTHERSHED’S ATTORNEY, MATTHEW METZGAR, ASKED FOR CONSIDERATION OF A PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF HIS CLIENT, BUT THE JUDGE SAID HE WOULD WAIT FOR A FORMAL REQUEST ON THAT.

 

Le Mars Water Department Announces Fall Flushing DateĀ 

(Le Mars) — Le Mars city water department has announced they will be starting the 2016 fall flushing of hydrants on Tuesday, October 11th. City water crews will begin at the northeast section of town at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and will continue until 3:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. They will then move to the northwest section of town and begin flushing until 3:00 p.m.

The southwest part of town will be done the week of October 18th to the 21st, and the southeast portion of Le Mars, the hydrants will be flushed the week of October 25th to the 28th.

City officials say that if discolored water is noticed, residents are asked to refrain from using hot water until the cold water hard tap is clear.

 

Floyd Valley Healthcare Hosting Well Aware Wellness Health FairĀ 

(Le Mars) — Floyd Valley Healthcare will be hosting its annual Well Aware Wellness Health Fair on Wednesday, October 12th. Floyd Valley’s Education Coordinator Kari Daale says the event serves as an excellent opportunity for residents to learn more about health and nutrition.

Daale gives an example of the types of vendors that will be exhibiting at this year’s Wellness Health Fair.

Again this year, the Le Mars Police Department will be accepting old and expired prescription medications for proper disposal.

The Floyd Valley Healthcare Education Director says “car-fit” will be available at the Well Aware Wellness Health Fair.

Daale reminds people that flu shots will be administered during the health fair. People can get their flu shot for a $25 fee.

 

CARE CENTER WORKER CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ABUSING CLIENTS

A SIOUX CITY MAN HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ABUSING TWO RESIDENTS AT A CARE FACILITY.

21 YEAR OLD SERGIO PINEDO IS CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF 3RD DEGREE SEXUAL ABUSE.

CITY POLICE INVESTIGATORS SAY PINEDO WAS AN EMPLOYEE AT OPPORTUNITIES UNLIMITED AND THAT THEY RECEIVED A REPORT FROM AN AGENCY CLIENT THAT PINEDO HAD SEXUALLY ASSAULTED THE VICTIM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS.

DURING THE INVESTGATION, A SECOND CLIENT TOLD POLICE THAT HE HAD ALSO BEEN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY PINEDO ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AS WELL.

PINEDO WAS ARRESTED THURSDAY AND IS BEING HELD IN THE WOODBURY COUNTY JAIL ON $25-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND.

 

185TH AIR GUARD MAY PROVIDE HURRICANE RELIEF HELP

Units from Sioux City’s 185th Air Refueling Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard have been placed on standby for Hurricane Matthew relief.

The National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Va., notified the 185th that request for support could come within the next week if they are needed.

The 185th flies the KC-135 mid-air refueling aircraft that can also be used to transport cargo and passengers.

Col. Larry Christensen, the185th Wing Commander, says the unit has aircraft and crew on standby to assist.

The unit was tasked for a similar assignment in 2005, when the 185th flew 80 missions in direct support of Hurricane Katrina relief.
