Rumors by Neil Simon Opens at LCT Thursday

(Le Mars) What happens when you take a show from a well known playwright, add in some experienced community theatre actors and a couple new faces?  Well, you get a show that’s fun, unpredictable and great excuse to take a break from real life and  laugh with the people you’re in community with.
The Le Mars Community Theatre at the Postal Playhouse is excited to be opening the third show of their 50th Anniversary Season this week. “Rumors,” by Neil Simon, is a witty farce that starts with an incident and unravels as a layered cover-up that changes every time someone new walks on stage.  Cast member Joel Johnson explains.

Johnson plays Glenn, one of the friends invited to the party who is a politician running for the State Senate. Joel is new to the LCT stage, well- kind of.  He said it’s been 39 years since he worked with the Le Mars Community Theatre, acting in the shows  “Wilderness” and “Mame” when he was in grade school.

Other “Rumors” cast members include Janelle Bixenman, Margaret Britton, Melanie Sailer, Dalton Glawe, Brad Wiltman, Susan Willer, Bob Hill, Rahkel Hanson and Tina Laskie. The show is under the direction of Jennifer Scholton.

Johnson says this group of people has been a blast to work with and invites you to come join in on the fun.

Seats are still available for all performances, but are going fast.  Visit www.lemarslive.org to buy your tickets or call or visit the box office from 11-2 weekdays, the phone number is 546-5788.
