Assistant Teacher at Indian Hills Junior High in Clive Dies of COVID Complications

(Clive, IA) — The West Des Moines Community School District says a staff member died due to complications from COVID-19. An email sent to parents Monday said Indian Hills Junior High special education assistant Jennifer Crawford died. The district did not say how or where Crawford became exposed to the coronavirus. She was reportedly out of state when she fell ill.
Counselors and family resources are being provided to students and staff.
Sympathy cards sent to the school will be given to Crawford’s family.

 

 

 

More Details About Deadly Franklin County Home Explosion

(Meservey, IA) — More details are being released about a deadly house explosion in north-central Iowa over the weekend. Franklin County authorities were called to a home southeast of Meservey Saturday afternoon.
Crews rescued one person from the house who had severe injuries and airlifted the victim to a Des Moines hospital. Officers later found the body of 71-year-old Janice Doane. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.

 

 

 

One Person Seriously Injured in Cedar Rapids Car Shooting and Crash

(Cedar Rapids, IA) — One person is hospitalized after a shooting and car crash Monday night in Cedar Rapids. Police responded to a report of a car being shot at near Noelridge Park. The alleged victim said someone fired shots from another vehicle before crashing near the park. There were five people in the victim’s vehicle. Officers say one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The other four occupants weren’t hurt. No word on the suspect or suspect vehicle.
