Man dies while clearing trees

(RUBLE)–A man who was cutting trees east of Akron died Monday.

An investigation by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and Dr. Paul Parmelee of the Plymouth County Coroner’s Office determined 63-year-old James “Jim” Netley of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota was cutting trees when one of the trees fell on him. Netley was pronounced dead at the area where he was clearing brush which was along Highway Three, between Akron and Brunsville, at a location known as Ruble.

In a written release of information, the sheriff’s office stated the incident is being handled as an accident and no further investigation is anticipated.

Akron Police and Fire and Siouxland Paramedics assisted the sheriff’s office which was called around 7:30 last (Monday) night.
