1 yellow cake mix from which you set aside 2/3 cup of the dry mix. Use the non-reserved cake mix and add one egg, one-half of cup of melted margarine (oleo); and 1 cup chopped pecans. Press into greased 9-by-13-inch pan.
Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown
Mix 2/3 cup dry cake mix; three eggs; 1/2 cup brown sugar; one and a half cups dark Karo syrup; 1 tsp vanilla (“I add more,” Peggy said.); and 1 cup of pecans. Pour over the crust.
Bake until set which will be about 30 minutes. Serve with a topping of whipped cream or Cool Whip or similar.
