(AKRON)–A fourth person wanted as a suspect in a Thursday night robbery at an Akron business is behind bars.
Three teens were arrested after money was taken when a clerk was robbed at Casey’s General Store early Thursday night.
The robbery suspects fled in a vehicle which eventually went off a Plymouth County road near Akron. Those arrested are 16-year-olds Fernando and Arturo Perez and 15-year-old Carolina Perez, all of Sioux City. They’re each charged with felony robbery in the second degree.
A fourth suspect was arrested by Akron Police and Sheriff’s Deputies Friday morning. Several people reported seeing someone walking in the downtown area of Akron who seemed to be suspicious.
Sixteen-year-old Gerson Aquilar of Sioux City is also charged with felony robbery in the second degree. Aquilar and the three other Sioux City teens remain in custody.
(BRUNSVILLE)–Another event leading up to Brunsville’s Centennial celebration is tonight (Saturday).
The town welcomes Brunsville residents and the public to a Pork Feed and “Minute to Win It” at the American Legion Hall in Brunsville.
A freewill offering will be accepted for the Pork Feed from 5:30-7:30. “Minute to Win It,” begins at 7:30. They”ll also have a 50-50 raffle and Centennial items will be for sale.
The Centennial is June 24th and June 25th

The March 2011 Blitz reported the 2011 Prairie Rose Golf Club Board members for a season that officially began April 1st. League begins the week of April 18th, weather permitting.

St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brunsville was organized in 1910. The congregation’s worship center was a Methodist church building that was moved from Dalton in 1917. Bill Renken of St. Peter’s traced the history of another church building.

The church’s original red doors are at the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars in the study hall area. Willer and Renken spoke at the museum’s salute to the Centennial town this week.
A well-known Brunsville resident, Art Pahl will be remembered Sunday afternoon at two when the ninth annual Art Pahl Accordion Fest is at the museum’s “Old Central” Gym.
(MERRILL)–The Iowa State Patrol Friday afternoon updated information released about a traffic accident south of Merrill Thursday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle was listed as a fatality. The Iowa State Patrol now reports 62-year-old Gerry Eileen Olson of Plymouth, Minnesota was INJURED and was not a fatality. She is hospitalized at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City in critical condition. Her 84-year-old passenger was Marion Basel of Plymouth, Minnesota who is Olson’s mother. She was also injured and was taken to Mercy Medical Center.
(DES MOINES)-Legislation that Le Mars housing development owners say is needed has passed the Iowa House.
City administrator Scott Langel says the measure would allow land to be platted that would not be taxed as a lot until there are further improvements on the bare lot.

Langel was told by State Representative Chuck Soderberg this week that the measure passed by an 80-vote majority in the House. The legislation now would be considered by in Senate Committees.
Langel says he is also watching property tax reform; open meetings and open records to be sure the city is current with what is passed; and collective bargaining rules. Other measures involve water quality.
(LE MARS)–Today (Saturday) is a day to recycle paper for school projects in Le Mars and Remsen.
The Le Mars Community Elementary Schools paper recycling project is this morning. Paper may be dropped off at O’Toole Park in Le Mars from 8-10 a-m. Other pickup sites are at the Struble and Craig Banks and the Brunsville Bank corner from 8-9 a-m.
The Remsen-Union Family Connection and St. Mary’s School Board collect paper from 8-11 a-m at the Marion Street location.
The Gehlen Catholic Can Drive is this morning from 8 am to 10 a-m at the Elementary Building.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Legislators will continue studying a bill that would legalize Internet poker in Iowa, but it’s unlikely to move forward in its current form.
Sen. Bill Dotzler, a Waterloo Democrat, says Friday that it will take more work before the Legislature approves legalizing Internet poker. Estimates are that 150,000 Iowans play poker online illegally, and regulating that could eventually generate $30 million annually in state tax revenue.
The bill would allow players to establish accounts with casinos and play poker online against other Iowans. Casinos would collect a percentage of the money wagered on each hand, which would be taxed.
Sen. Jeff Danielson, of Cedar Falls, says lawmakers couldn’t agree on the bill. It will be amended to request a report from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) A proposed redistricting map pairs four of Iowa’s five congressmen and about a third of legislators, but lawmakers are indicating they may approve the plan.
Although it would prove troublesome for many of them, legislators seem worried that if they reject the first map, the second one might be even worse.
Veteran Democratic legislative staffer Ron Parker says 27 House members and 14 senators are paired under the proposed map. He says that’s about half the number tossed together the last two times the Legislature approved districts.
Parker says Friday that many Republicans and Democrats assume there could be even more pairings if lawmakers reject the proposed map.
The Legislature is scheduled to vote on the new map in mid-April after holding hearings next week.
CORWITH, Iowa (AP) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is helping the owner of a northern Iowa chicken farm where cages collapsed.
The DNR says a row of cages collapsed at Hawkeye Pride Egg Farms near Corwith earlier this week. The building houses about 300,000 hens. The agency says there is the potential for high mortality among the chickens.

The DNR says in a news release issued Friday that human safety is a top priority and until the cages can be safely stabilized, the cleanup can’t begin.
The agency says it is working to find a solution that will protect the environment. It says Hawkeye Pride has been working diligently to find a solution.
FORT MADISON, Iowa (AP) Officials say the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison was placed on lockdown Friday morning after an inmate stabbed a fellow prisoner.
Authorities say the stabbing appears to be an isolated but serious incident that happened just after 7 a.m.
The inmate who was stabbed was transported to a local hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries and has since been brought back to the penitentiary and is listed as in stable condition.
Officials say the names of the inmates involved can’t yet be released because of an ongoing investigation.
No staffers were injured in the attack.
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) A northeast Iowa man has been arrested after authorities say he impersonated a public official on Facebook.
Police in Waterloo say 20-year-old Austin Reding of Dysart posted several comments on the public page of local radio station KCRR this week stating he was a Waterloo firefighter and paramedic.
Authorities say Reding claimed he had been a firefighter for two years, and that he was the paramedic who pulled a man from the Cedar River following a police chase on Wednesday.
KOEL radio says Waterloo police confirmed that Reding wasn’t a firefighter and arrested him Thursday.
Reding is in the Black Hawk County jail on a charge of impersonating a public official.
The public defender’s office in Waterloo says Friday that no lawyer has yet been assigned to Reding’s case.
CLINTON, Iowa (AP) A woman who was working as a para-educator at Clinton middle school has been fined $200 for punching a student.
The Clinton Herald reported that 28-year-old Amanda Schepler had pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday.
Court records say Schepler was hit in the face on Feb. 16 by a shoe thrown by the special-needs student. The records say two other para-educators saw Schepler punch the student in the left upper thigh and say, “Get her out of my face before I hurt her.”
A public phone listing for Schepler could not be found.
Clinton Community School Superintendent Deb Olson said Schepler left the district’s employ on Feb. 17. Olson would not say whether Schepler quit or was fired.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) A student government officer at the University of Iowa is calling for a reduction of what he says are excessive fines for violating the city’s 21-only ordinance.
Elliot Higgins, who is representing the school’s student government at Iowa City council meetings, says the penalty for being underage in a bar after 10 p.m. is placing undue financial hardship on college students.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen says the fine is set at $500 and can inflate to as much as $735 per citation.
Higgins filed a proposal with the council Thursday asking that the fine be lowered to fall in line with those of other cities and similar Iowa City criminal penalties.
Iowa City police cited 24 underage people for being in a bar after 10 p.m. in February.
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) A Marshalltown movie theatre hoping to cater to the region’s Hispanic community will begin showing Spanish-language films.
The Orpheum says it will show Spanish films on Sunday nights beginning this weekend.
Orpheum Director Pip Gordon says the effort to reach out to the area’s Latino population is an initiative by the Iowa Valley Community College District, which operates the theatre.
The Marshalltown Times-Republican says Gordon reached out to the Hispanic community for movie choices.
The first Spanish movie at the Orpheum, to be shown Sunday night, will be “La Misma Luna” (lah-MEES’-ma LOO’-nah).
